‘The Sequence’

A dark cold aura of silence appears; a very intense feeling of danger draws near. My body speaks out with sensations of fear; there’s no avoiding its presence, I know that it’s here.

Denying the impulse, reality has staged. Powerless, to fend off this murderous rage.

Yet resistance encounters, a conflicting role; of letting go and losing control. A feeling of running, escaping it all; oh God, get me out of here, I don’t want to fall!

And then as if all life’s energy was drained.  A feeling of numbness, all emotions were strained. As I lie in a state of exhausted confusion, I recall the light of total seclusion.

And like a mole in a tunnel of mazes.
I know the way out is to go through these phases.

From 'murderous rage' to a 'feeling of numbness'....I love the way you take us from one emotion to another. Very powerful...

If I recall correctly this particular poem was experienced over a course of three days. And yes, the emotions were extremely intense.

Thanks so much,

Sage

Again, I understand what you are saying, rage is like the primal scream...it is such an out of control experiance that it hard to find the way out. This is an awesome hub, I love this hub you have touched me in a very deep place. Thanks

This is a powerful emotional turmoil to survive and come out on the other side maybe knowing a bit more about yourself. Healing emotions takes times, twists and turns but you are moving forward I think. Writing as well as you do gives you a means of expression that not all possess. Thanks for bravely writing about these experiences.

That's one thing with abuse of any kind. So many emotions come from one incidence. Something many think are a one time occerance, turns into a lifetime of memories and nightmares recounting the day of experiences over and over. Wondering what you could have done to have prevent the situation. You wonder what you did to deserve such a violation to your body, be it sexual abuse, a person beating you or even telling you that your nothing, stupid and so on. Aside from what people thing, words truely can hurt. Especially when it comes from from a parent that's supposed to love their child and keep them safe. You have a good talent for bringing words to some of the most painful emotions. Take care and be well.

Powerful and you describe all the stages of dealing with abuse very well. It is a tough thing to come out on the other side but it is possible, as you are showing. Great stuff, Sage.

On the other side of rage is ecstasy. On the other side of ecstasy is rage. Some people are so dead in the middle that they never feel either.

You do, so you are alive.

You color this emotion well, in drab grays and back of the eyeball scarlet reds, the heart pounding like a jackhammer, but nothing concrete is shattering except your own beliefs in sanity which has fled. the pain of knowing you are lesser in another's eyes than a gnat smacking a windshield and becoming something only worthy of wiping away like

some unwanted body fluids. What can a soul do to defend against such a situation, it has a shell to crawl into or

an adrenaline burst of murderous angst, that could wound in any way possible one's attacker. It is a tough decision, I say go for the eyes, they are easily removed with two pounds of thumb or finger pressure hooked into the corners of the eyes, It's fixable with surgery, they simply dangle by the optic nerves and incapacitiate your abuser. but then I am a bit more barbaric in my reactions to fear. Superb write.~~~MFB III

MFB - Wow, such an interesting comment; it took me awhile to decipher the beginning of your comment. You have an uncanny way of expressing.

As for the ending, feeling the murderous rage alone is exhausting not to mention, controlling the impulses that are snapping off of ones body read to engage at any given moment.

The rest as you said it was a little barbaric, but not to far from what I had envisioned.

Thanks so much for stopping by reading and commenting. Your comment is greatly appreciated!

this was so incredible, I was very moved by these words;

And then as if all life’s energy was drained. A feeling of numbness, all emotions were strained. As I lie in a state of exhausted confusion, I recall the light of total seclusion.

Thank you for delivering such an important message in such a poetic, beautiful way

My dearest Sage...

There´s also beauty in the way we describe despair and helplessness. It is a powerful way of releasing the pain and imprint it in the words that so poetically bleed through a parchment of literary hopelessness... Rated up and beautiful!

Warmest hugs and infinite heavenly blessings,

Al
