Poem | Once upon a time

‘Once Upon A Time’

Once upon a time life had no meaning;
No God, nor faith, of any higher being.
As darkness revolved, high up in the clouds; withdrawing to silence away from the crowds.

There was no love only despise;
an illusion of beauty; a beast in disguise.

Isolation became peace a way of survival; turning inward to speak, running into denial.

Defenses were constructed like concrete walls; protecting the image underneath it all.

Then came the day, that life had meaning; there was a God and faith of a higher being.

Beauties illusion restored an aurora of light; as silence eluded and flew out of sight.

For now there’s love; a sweet reprise;
to beauties illusion, a blessing in disguise.

Honesty has surfaced, a brand new arrival; speaking out against ones own self-denial.

Mind and body connecting, reclaiming its style; unfolding a veil, of a hidden profile.

A beautiful poem. Secrets do have a way of hiding us from appreciating the love and beauty in the world. And it's like a miracle to climb your way out of such darkness.

Thanks Dolores, for reading this poem and commenting. Looking at the statistics, of the number that don't climb out from the darkness. I guess you could say it's a miracle.

myownworld - Once again thanks so much for your comment. You are so right about HOPE. It may be the tiniest ray of light, an inkling, an insatiable need that is driven from deep within, that fuels the human spirit with HOPE.

You have tremendous insight.

I see your are religious after all. God bless you and keep you safe and protected from all harm. I loved your poem,even though it saddens me deeply to read this you have expressed so very clearly what your pain was like and your feelings of desolation. It would have been so traumatic to go through all this with no one to talk to about it. You must remember never think that it is entirely a HOPELESS SITUATION, because you will find the light that will lead you back to your sanity and peace of mind again. You are a brave soul I can tell and you have so much fight and courage in you to get through this. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless Sage, please remember what I said, if you need to talk, I will be there to listen my friend. I have become a follower of yours love Beautybabe.

I feel as if you are writing about me and my feelings, it is so refreshing to see myself in someone else. For so long I have felt as an outsider, I enjoyed it on the outside but now as I am spreading my wings and opening my doors to the world I am so glad I have found your writing, it creates a sense of belonging in me. Thank you for writing, and please continue on writing for us all to grow together!

crazy jane - Thanks so much for your heartfelt and endearing comment. When I was going through my recovery I would always seem to stumble upon a book that I felt like I wrote or that was written for me.

I, like you, remember that refreshing feeling. I'm not crazy! Here it is in black and white.

For me, it was extremely validating. Due to the fact that I did not trust myself or my perceptions to be validated was huge. Validation was one of those things that I needed so much.

It is truly amazing how many of the same characteristics, feelings and emotions that we share.

Though are experiences may be different,somehow, someway we relate very strongly. I am happy that you are experiencing this through my writing.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like.

Hugs to you,

Sage

Sage: This poem is beautiful! It touched my heart to see how you got out of the darkness of despair. When I was a teenager, I used to write poetry and I think that it literally saved my life, it became my healing balm. At the time I couldn't cope very well with losing part of my hearing.

I have to admit my heart is aching right now... but its a good ache, we are all humans in a journey.

"Once Upon a Time" my life knew only chronic pain.

But now there's Sage's MBSR- a disguised blessing;

May it help me unfold my hidden profile.

And discover measures to befriend my body in a while,

That I may live and laugh, before I die.

Hahaha! Never mind Sage if it is a lousy one! What is important is, your poem gave me the rhythm of hope to survive. Thank you! Cheers!
