After writing my article titled, "How To Attract Hummingbirds Into Your Life!"
I continued my research further into the various types of hummingbird feeders available on the market and the number one consumer's choice. I had no idea just how many different types there would be to choose from.

Upon completing my research, I must say the one feeder that had all of the essential features and came highly recommended with thousands of wonderful reviews from all over the world was the Aspects HummZinger Hummingbird Feeders.

These feeders come in a variety of shapes, sizes and types. There are two videos to the right, the first video does an excellent job on explaining how to choose a hummingbird feeder. While the second video is for your pleasure and shows hummingbirds using these feeders.

How to Choose a Hummingbird Feeder

There are several things to consider when choosing a hummingbird feeder.

As I noted in my previous article hummingbirds are attracted to the color red. Therefore, it is important to choose a feeder that is red. If you are choosing to add accessories to the feeder, these should also have the color red on them.

A good feeder will have interchangeable parts.

Interchangeable parts, make it easier to fill and will disassemble easily for cleaning. Choosing a feeder that has replacement parts is also recommended.

Feeders come in various sizes from 8, 12, 32 oz etc. , Choosing a feeder where the Nectar sits on the top of the feeder instead of coming out of the bottom is important, as this will prevent dripping and leaking. These are usually bottle type feeders.

There are saucer type feeders as well that are designed by the company Aspects. These feeders are called the HummZinger Feeders and are designed with built in ant moats. Some feeders are designed with 3 ports for feeding and some have six ports.

Some feeders come with a built in ant moat, where the ants will crawl down the hanger, go into the moat and not be able to get back out. Due to the small size of the built in ant moats, there is an additional accessory called the nectar protector. The nectar protector also has a built in ant moat. This protector is designed to be filled with water and hung above the feeder. The nectar protector is shown below and can be purchased separately.

You can also purchase Nectar online. I prefer to make my own to save some money. Here is the recipe that I will be following. Hummingbird Food Mixture.

Pamel and Lecie - thanks so much for commenting. The hummingbird feeders have improved quite a bit from many years ago and according to all of the reviews that I read, the HummZinger Hummingbird feeders seem to be the best by far.

Many thanks,

Sage

Great hub again on the little darlings! I found a great hummingbird feeder and just need to figure out how to get an attachment with sugar water in it! Bob's HAT! He is a SDSU grad and has a beautiful red cap he wears all the time and he has been 'attacked' now about 3 or 4 times by the hummers trying to get food. I told him we should figure out a way to do it and he should market it. Of course, if it wasn't on him or me, it probably would never happen...what are the chances?

Sage, That's the best collection and or selection of feeders I've ever seen. Like a kid in a candy store.

Thanks and Peace :)

Great hub. I've found more success when I've made my own nectar than when I've used the mix. I can't wait until the weather gets a bit warmer to have a try at it again.

Happyher - That's so good to know. I as well am anxious for the warmer weather to stay and am looking forward to creating my habitat.

I am definitely going to bookmark this page. I have been looking for some more humming bird feeders. I love my humming birds. They fight a lot over the one feeder that I have. I need another and hopefully more than just the two. We are moving to a wooded area soon and hopefully there will be more humming birds there. Great article.
