Identity

64

By Sage Williams

Feelings are feelings;
there’s no right or wrong.
Like lyrics and limericks,
an unfolding song.

31 years lie deeply below,
underneath layers in paralyzed rows
.
An inner voice speaks,
“there’s really a me!”
as hibernating fears
seek identity.

Don’t worry what others
might say or do;
take pride and possession
in each avenue.
And as I lay claimant
to whatever I say,
spontaneity speaks,
“Get out of my way!”

There are times when we really need to speak out. I don't care whatever the reaction of those who will listen at least they know what, why and how we felt that way and it's up to them how they interpret it.

Voicing out helps relieve the tension and is the 1st process towards the betterment of ourselves.

"Spontaneity speaks--Get out of the way!" I had to smile at that line Sage. It will be fun to see who wins the battle as you write. I suspect spontaneity. The comment you left at one of my poems was pure and powerful. Good to meet you.

Thanks winsome for seeking me out and commenting on this poem. This poem was actually censored prior to publishing. The original read Get the ---- out of my way!

I'll give a clue first letter is F, I don't believe I need to go any further.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment. It is greatly appreciate.

Sage...

Being able to express ourselves through poetry, prose or writing in general is a privilege not many understand. It is not to impress, to be agreed with, to create a contest entry. It is to express our free will in the words we best feel inspired by at the moment. Writing is to Painting as colors are to words.

Thumbs up, my friend!

warmest regards and blessings,

Al

Sage, Mark Twain once said that if you want to be known as a great wit, tell the truth. I love that quote, reminding us to speak with honesty and spontaneity.

I love poems. Words are carefully selected to present vividness of thoughts. Not everybody can write good poems. I do try to write but I'm not as good as you are. Yours is poignant! Cheers!

Lita - Believe it or not, I am not good at poems either. I have only written about 20 or so. The poems that I wrote just came to me. If I try to write a poem, I can't. Thanks so much for your wonderful comment. Sage
